Jewish American Poetry
Growing Up in a Jewish Neighborhood
Author: Richard Chess
Date: 11/05/19
Event: Jewish Experiences
Characters: He, his Grandmother, and his Grandfather
Memorable Quote: "He wants the glass of a broken window to tell no story."

This poem transmitted me the fear the boy has towards his painful memories and situations that nobody deserves going through. That made me think about how different people's lives are and how painful they could be because. I believe and hope that I will never experience the amount of pain that the person of the poem suffered. Maybe he is safe now, but the memories and what he had to see will haunt him for the rest of his life, and that is almost an unbearable burden that many survivors had and have to carry.
